Wicomico Middle, along with Beaver Run, East Salisbury and Wicomico High, kicked off Mental Health Awareness Month with the Annual Children and Family Mental Health Awareness BBQ. We appreciate all 783 people who attended. Thank you to the PPWs, CSCs, Mental Health Staff, the Wi-Hi NHS and Wi-Middle SGA volunteers, as well as other student volunteers, that assisted with the event. We thank the community resource vendors, Mobile Cloud Video Game Truck, T & S Entertainment, Kona Ice of Worcester County, WCPS Food Service Department, and Wicomico High School Cheer Team/Coaches for helping to make this event a hit! 🖤💛 It was Teachers and Staff Appreciation Week at Wicomico Middle.🖤💛 This past week was filled with surprises and treats to celebrate their hard work and dedication. There were drawings for various gift cards, a hand-made quilt from Principal Branham, a gift basket from Sonya's Floral Boutique, donuts/coffee/tea, Chick-Fil-A breakfast, Chick-Fil-A lunch, another lunch with pizza/salad, and snow cones. None of this would have been possible without the support of our amazing community! Frozen Kids Presented by the Prince Street Elementary Drama Club, 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at the school.
DI Run for Creativity, a Destination Imagination fundraiser for the two Wicomico teams headed to Global Finals, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday at Fruitland City Park.
The Maryland Council on Economic Education sponsors an annual online Stock Market Game for teachers and student teams that teaches about the stock markets, the American economic system, and the global economy. It’s not just a game, it’s education for life for the hundreds of Maryland teams from elementary through high school that compete. Groups of students were given virtual dollars to invest once they had researched and identified stocks they wanted to purchase and trade.

National School Principals' Day is observed annually on May 1st. It's a day to recognize the dedication and leadership of school principals, who play a vital role in shaping the educational environment. This day provides an opportunity to thank and appreciate principals for their contributions to students, teachers, and the broader school community.

The Wicomico County CTE Interactive Media Art Exhibit is Thursday, May 1 from 5-7 p.m. in the media wing and media center of Wicomico High School.
Does the idea of drinking ginger ale from a champagne flute, snacking on finger foods, mingling with family and friends, admiring art on the walls, having deep, thoughtful discussions about the intended meaning of a work of art or photograph, and listening to jazzy music sound like a fun and stimulating way to spend an evening? We hope your answer is yes. You don't have to be an artist to appreciate art from the CTE Interactive Media Program!
Come have fun with our interactive media and photography students as we all reflect on the year and admire the great work they have created. The public is invited so feel free to bring your friends and family. At this year's exhibit you'll see Interactive Media's newest work, visit their classroom, check out the incredible state of the art equipment students use including iMacs and Wacom tablets, talk to current students, watch students demonstrate the technology they use every day, and see the cool merchandise students design and print including t-shirts, tumblers, mugs, buttons, and stickers . We are excited to announce that this year you will also see incredible photography by Mrs. Messler's photography students.
There will be a lot to see at this year's exhibit so please don't miss it!

State law requires that all grade 3 - 8 students and high school students in Maryland public schools participate annually in spring ELA (English) and math assessments called the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP). The purpose of these assessments is to gain insight into how students are mastering ELA and math content. Your child will complete four separate units of the math assessment, each lasting 40 minutes, and four sections of the ELA assessment, each lasting 70 minutes.
This year we will be administering the MCAP assessments at all schools between April 28th and May 30th. Specifically, Wicomico Middle will administer this assessment for most students on the following dates:
- ELA: Monday, April 28th-Thursday, May 1st
- Math: Monday, May 5th-Tuesday, May 6th
- Blended Virtual and RTE Students Only: May 2nd and May 9th

This past Thursday Dr. Postles, our Wicomico Middle Teacher of the Year, and Mr. Mills, our Wicomico Middle Rising Star, were treated to a parade send off by faculty and staff. Both of them have represented Wicomico Middle very well.
The remaining 6th Grade students in the Young Business Leaders Signature School Program traveled to Salisbury University today to experience an investing lesson in the Finance Lab and for a tour of the campus. This experience was sponsored by the Maryland Council on Economic Education and Salisbury University-Perdue School of Business. This is a great extension for our students who are participating in the Stock Market Challenge Game with Mr. Yates.
6th Grade students in the Young Business Leaders Signature School Program have reached the stage where they are harvesting vegetables from our Aeroponics Grow Tower for the first time.
Not only are students learning how to connect agriculture with the science curriculum, but they are exploring how alternative forms of agriculture can have many business and entrepreneurial impacts with such a growing population to support.
